Isla de la Plata
& Puerto Lopez

Our next stop was the wonderful
town of Puerto Lopez. It is a small fishing community and even the local street
dogs get some of the catch. The town also has boats leaving it to head to Isla
de la Plata, an island about 90 minutes off Ecuador's coast. We headed out to
the island and as soon as we pulled up

On the boat ride out we saw
several humpback whales (even though it was fairly late in the season). The
island is very dry but beautiful and there was several green sea turtles right
off the coast as we beached our boat and hopped onto the island. The main attraction
is the unique bird life on the island. Below are several photos of the birds
we saw.
