After a late night we slept in then caught a bus to Plaza Cinco de Mayo which is sort of the center of Panama City. We visited monuments and old colonial buildings but most exciting, the Panama Canal! We went to the Miraflores Locks where the visitor center for the canal is. This facility was unbelievable. It had a four story museum with exhibits and even aquariums of aquatic life from the canal. It also features an observation deck and we watched several huge ships pass through. There is a person with a microphone stating facts about the ships as they go through. The first cargo ship we saw had paid around $220,000 to use the canal! The museum also has a theater where we watched a movie about how they made the canal. We stayed for several hours. After the canal we grabbed our most expensive meal of the whole trip, Subway ($11.48).
