We started the day off early by going snorkeling. It was kind of cloudy but divable. As we were swimming out one of the many street dogs swam out (about 50 yards or so) to say hi. Kendall picked it up and talked to it then pushed it towards shore. It took the cue and swam back. It was really funny. The rip tides of the beach are unreal we got caught in several but eventually made it back to shore. We took showers then rented bikes for the afternoon. We rode down paved and unpaved very rocky roads to other beaches and towns. We found one of the most beautiful beaches we have ever seen. We also saw a sloth on a palm tree only 7 or 8 feet off the ground. It started to rain on the way back into town and we returned the bikes. Down the street from our hotel we found a little old lady who sells milkshakes from her house. She has a chain link fence around her house and she passes the milkshakes through the gate in a plastic bag. In one of our guide books they describe her as a darling old lady who makes the best milkshakes. She has a list of milkshakes that she offers one a wipe off board on the porch. They cost fifty cents. It was the best milkshake we have ever had. We watched the sunset and had dinner at a local Soda restaurant. Most of Costa Rica´s food is bland (but still fresh & fantastic). On the Caribbean coast it's very flavorful and much like the food we had in New Orleans. Plus we had two huge plates of food for $6.00 total.
