Kayaking in Crystal Cove State Park12-30-06With the winter swell normally pounding our coast, I felt Shelley and I should take advantage of a rare chunk of calm days out on the water. Early in the morning we headed to Crystal Cove State Park in Laguna Beach.![]() ![]() It was still a very cold morning when we arrived but we set up the kayak and headed down to the beach. The surf was very minimal, but we still managed to flip the kayak and both fall into the cold 57 degree water. We climbed back in and were on our way out to sea. We kayaked 2 miles and saw the following wildlife: False Killer Whale, Short-Beaked Common Dolphins, California Sea Lion, & Brown Pelicans. It was a fun adventure. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Note: Kevin Newburn and I went out a week later and kayaked the same spot but didn't see any wildlife. It was still a fun adventure, especially for Kevin who has never kayaked before. |
