Our day started when I woke up a little before 5:00 AM to photograph the sunrise on the beach. Today was Shelley's first day at scuba certification. It turns out (not surprisingly) she is a fantastic diver. On her very first dive, after doing the skills required (which are normally done in a swimming pool just under the surface), her Australian instructor noticed how well she was doing and asked if she wanted to swim around a little for a fun dive. He guided her to a reef and she ended up going down 40 feet! When the instructor and Shelley came back he offered to take both of on a private boat dive. The dive was awesome and had the strongest current I have ever been in underwater. I suspect these currents are frequent as the supply the corals with nutrients. We came back and ate lunch then Shelley went out for her third and I went out to the reef alone to take underwater photos. Shelley had her first scare underwater but I will leave that for her to tell you about when we return. What Shelley accomplished today in Scuba took me about 2 weeks. We ate dinner at a fancy beachfront restaurant where Shelley got the best club sandwich she has ever had. Lightning filled the air over the ocean in the distance but we have still have not had a drop of rain.
